A Little February Note on the Love Woven Into Crochet

February has arrived with her gentle blush of pinks and reds, a month where we celebrate both crochet and love. In my studio, the two feel inseparable. Crochet has always been more than a craft to me. It is time, intention, and tenderness woven together. Every stitch asks for patience. Every project gathers hours of quiet focus. And in a world that moves so quickly, giving someone your time is one of the purest forms of love.

When we create something by hand, we offer more than yarn and skill. We offer the soft parts of ourselves. The learning, the practice, the small triumphs, the unraveling, and beginning again. Each piece becomes a little story of care. For me, using my craft to bring joy to others is the heart of what love looks like.

This February, I’m celebrating Handmade with Love, a theme that feels like a warm cup held between both hands. It’s a month for comfort, connection, and the tiny joys that bloom when we make something with intention. With Crochet Month and Valentine’s Day sharing the calendar, it feels like the perfect moment to think about how handmade gifts carry emotion in a way nothing store‑bought ever could.

In the studio, I’ve been working on bundles that blend my two great loves: crochet and painting. Imagine soft crochet flower bouquets paired with delicate mini watercolor pieces. Sweet little flower purses accompanied by tiny painted blooms. These bundles feel like love notes in physical form, each one a reminder that handmade things carry warmth long after the moment they’re given. Creating them has been pure joy, a merging of yarn and watercolor that feels like a quiet celebration of beauty.

This month will be full and creative. I’ll be sharing Made with Love process videos on Facebook and Instagram, little glimpses into the care that goes into each piece. I’ll also be celebrating Crochet Month with educational posts, gentle reflections, and fun crochet facts to keep the spirit bright. February feels like the perfect time to honor this craft and the comfort it brings.

And on February 7th, I’ll be at the Cabin Fever Craft Show at the Piney Run Park Nature Center in Sykesville, Maryland, tucked inside the Yurt.
